What's different about S.O.L.A.R.®, though—what's different about the path I followed subsequent to my workshop phase—is that it's about striving for a spiritual life within our material life; and striving to make our spiritual life more material, i.e. more practical and down-to-earth.
Real-life results means that I'm increasingly able to apply spiritual principles to my daily life, in the midst of it, on the fly, so to speak—principles like love, compassion, humility, thankfulness, deeper understanding, patience, service, and so forth.
And this means in all areas of my life, not just the spiritual area, i.e. in my physical, social, family, financial, vocational, and mental life, too.
Real-life results also means being able to apply material principles to my spiritual strivings—principles like seriousness, discipline, sustained effort, responsibility, time management and scheduling, planning, projection, resource management and budgeting, reliability, cooperation, and so forth.
As we are to begin with, though, it's quite impossible for us to do any of this, because we're initially ruled by our conditioning and by our Material Nature needs for comfort and ease, as discussed in the two previous sections. So, the first step is seeing and understanding our Material Nature, which, again, is where the S.O.L.A.R.® teachings start. And in order to see and understanding our Material Nature, we must be able to stand back from it, so to speak, in Presence, detached and impartial.
Alongside this, we must conquer the illusion that we already have true consciousness, true freedom, and real will. Like the Emperor who was convinced by the consensus around him that he had clothes on where in fact he was naked, we tend to get all puffed up about how our human consciousness is so superior to animal consciousness. In truth, we're simply slaves to society's and Material Natures's fads and fashions.
